I was a bit apprehensive about seeing NOPE. I did see Get Out but not Peele's second movie. I'm not a big fan of horror and not at all of sci-fi, but I enjoyed this film. I agree with one review: "the film is densely constructed, with plenty of symbolism and parallel storytelling built in." The story is layered and nuanced, and viewers must pay attention. A few things that I missed, my daughter explained to me. On a deeper level, it seemed like a next-level Ghost Busters, but not a comedy - although it had comedic moments. I did not think the chimp scene was funny. I can't help but wonder if the "Run OJ run" line is tied to OJ Simpson and the bronco... (just wondering). I actually felt it was deep and meticulously written. The film was very well cast and acted. I see why Roper gave it 4Stars. Well earned.
