This book is wrought with over zealous descriptions of the pirates and their adventures. It is young adult fiction at best

This book is a gem! I could not put it down. I love the compartmentized section with the tripchk linking them all together.
An amazing book of the relationships among family and lovers with some incidents undiscovered until later.
Bravo. Written in the modern style of flashbacks tied back together.

A poetic historical fiction of Ho Chi Minh in Paris in the 1920's. I am glad I was reading it on an iPad which allowed me to immediately reference the poets, politicians and government officials cited in the book. A slim beast of a novel.

I though the double story was outstanding.

I cannot see what is special about this book. It is boring uninteresting look at culture, relationships and African music by an elitist author. Nothing special happens. It is a monotone of words. Ugh!

This book fails and fails in its own perceived self importance. There is no there there. The reader cannot determine where and why this book is going or even why we are dragged along with the narrator. There is not a good reason for all this navel gazing. No good description of locations just philosophy and policies of a bunch of miscreants . What a waste of money!

A boring disguised lecture novel about disadvantaged and marginalized people. Cannot identify with any character or identify an interesting theme in the novel.
