Been to this movie couple of weeks back and something's been bothering me from then on.
Honestly, its a nerve wrecking movie. I literally had my heart in my hands for large part of the movie. While the horrific truth behind the genocide of Kashmir Pandits was brought to your notice, few things were being overlooked which totally is not fair.
1. Humans are humans irrespective of caste and creed. There is good and bad in everybody but somehow it feels like movie didn't make any sort of justification in showing the good side of the Muslims, especially Muslim friends and neighbors who would have empathized with the horrific incidents and tried to save Pandits back then.
2. And it seems like something which tries to justify article 370 abolishment. When Krishna Pandits character owns the stage(that was actually set to talk about the current day issues), he gives an Ode to Kashmir that was, while conveniently ignores the Kashmir that is today.
Even if the idea was to focus only on the genocide, the ending could have been better. Because movies make a whole lot of impact on our society, half of us don't even think if it was the whole truth, we get carried away by what is shown on the screen and form opinions which is not healthy.
There is always a flip side, so we can't get blindsided and overlook the important and considerable facts. Try to be open is all I can say.
Ps: wouldn't have bothered to write a review if it didn't affect me. May sound stupid, but honestly for a moment there I decided to not step foot in Kashmir.
