I know people will skip reading this review, but if you are, I would pleasee consider reading the third paragraph except the second and fourth since it's just opinion based. But if you enjoy reading all of it, congratulations. You're a great listener with such patience. No seriously... You are...
Not something I like to watch but also it's not the worst either. Simply I think this wasn't something that would've been "ohh keanu reeves is in this movie. So it's going to be good!" Yes I'm not going to lie, keanu reeves is a great actor and he has such great talent. However for a movie that's been out for 5 years, in the role he did was just an overall a mixed bag. But at the same time it is really full of surprises in which I'll explain in the next paragraph (or two).
To sum everything about what the movie really portrays, obviously this is something that could potentially happen in real life to anyone just by answering the door to allow a complete stranger to your house while your wife is away while commiting adultery hense the title knock knock fits pretty well. Imagine being lied to by somebody you dont know that they are 21 when in reality he/she is underaged. Unfortunately there are lots of those who exploit people's kindness for personal gain. But at the same time everyone is responsible for their actions; never give in something that your gut feeling tells you even if it could potentially ruin your life and marriage too. You can try to fix it, but the cheating will always come back at you no matter how much of a good person or kind hearted you really are. That's the message the movie is trying to tell people.
I understand people giving the bad reviews due to both genders being sexualized. But also at the same time let's be real. They're not thinking outside the box. But my reason for knocking 2 stars off is one, the murder involved with louis. I think that scene could've just been cut out and still the movie would just be fine. Two, the obvious things to have Evan be oblivious to has me facepalming. C'mon man, seriously. Plus the scenarios to add where the girls act like wild animals is cringy.
To be fair though, despite this movie being 5 years old, this line will always be stuck in my head: "IT WAS FREE PIZZA!" And John Washington, your review had me dying in the end about the home alone and wet bandit situation 🤣🤣🤣
