The movie itself is fine, but if you’ve read and loved Spinelli’s Stargirl you will see that it falls short. Character development, conflict, theme, major scenes ...everything are altered or missing completely. Even Archie, Leo and Kevin’s sage, is ‘dumbed down’ and his philosophical words of wisdom are lost. Sad to see that Disney couldn’t stay true to a powerful YA novel. Read the book!!!
