Feels like a modern classic. Simplicity of the villains and background let you focus more on what was happening instead of why or who. It helped you focus on what was happening in the scene and the victims reactions to everything so you could feel the sense that it was real instead of acting. It had some original looking horror climax scenes and sounds which looked epic and some people have critiqued that as a slasher copy but honestly, it fit well and did it's own thing. This movie is the definition of a slasher. It would be a cult classic had it been released back in the day. There were some really good unexpected revenge scenes unlike the first one making you feel completely hopeless for them. It didn't shy away from showing the wounds happening on scene or showing you the gore of past victims. No one had any plot armor on either side.
These movies are 10 years apart with part of the original villain cast (same ones but I meant actors), so it makes you wonder what will happen in 2028? If there will be another and who will be in it? You can guess if they could've survived all that happened, like Michael Myers but then they wouldn't be average human killers like they appear to be.
***SPOILER AHEAD***
1st movie, good ppl die. 2nd movie, half die but all villains die.
Also showing the killers face and hearing a line was awesome! Instead of leaving you wondering.
Loved it first time I seen it in 2018. It had the audience in the theatre jumped then later cheering. I was doing the same watching it 6 years later for the 2nd time.
I'd honestly say it's one of my favs. Great directing & acting!
Tbh it looked like Eddie Munson's Forest Hills trailer park in Stranger Things. Imagine! lol (Googled it, wasn't, but is a couple states away)
After reading some negative reviews...
Why didn't the mom fight back? She was already frightened, trying to get her daughter out of the bathroom. She was focused on her daughters safety and looking up when the killer came in. Sure she could've fought back but you go towards someone with a sharp knife when you have nothing. You're not afraid while rationally thinking, like, oh I would've grabbed this or threw that. No, she's in panic mode at that moment.
Every horror movie everyone can sit there and say they would've done this or that. Yes in hindsight. You came into the movie expecting killers, the characters didn't.
Anyways ☺
