I really wanted to like the show. But having an antagonist being inaudible I found it far too difficult for the viewer to connect with the story. It doesn’t make for good TV. I kept finding myself being distracted or asking questions about the story and missing connections.
Further, I found issues trying to understand Fisk’s obsession with Maya? When comparing his connection to Bullseye in Daredevil season 3 they flushed out the connection there really well. But here, his connection to Maya seemed hollow. I don’t get why he kept wanting to be on her good side. At the end of the day she’s expendable like all his henchmen and has shown in the past he has no issue cutting ties. But when she’s literally attempted to kill him twice, he’s still trying to save his connection with her? It just seemed very out of place for Fisk’s character. Also, he’s a New York City crime boss, I couldn’t understand what he would need from a small Native reserve town to further his hold on crime status.
There were too many inconsistencies with the characters and their motives that made this series barely watchable. It seems like the creators didn’t respect who the characters were and their established motivations from previous and just had to put out a show. Added some popular characters from a previous series that fans loved in order just to get viewers.
