Donna Veit Polanski

The story of a woman unloved by her biological family, who overcomes hardships endured by countless Americans during the 1920's and 30's. A very emotional story that moves along fairly quickly. I could not put this book down.

I was so engrossed in this book I forgot where I was! Hard to believe it's the author's first book. Stephen King would have a hard time putting it down!

I can see this as a movie. I could not put this book down. I actually felt my heart racing in several scenes. Loved it!

Inspiring. So many women fought for their country with little to no recognition. I was moved by this book.

As a fan of Stephen King, this is a book he could have written! It's like the TV show "This is us" in that it takes place in two time periods. But it all comes together in the end. I loved this book.

I'm more than halfway through this book and it's compelling. But if I read one more reference to pens tapping, or in hand, in mouths, etc. I will scream.

The Wonder Years meets Dateline meets The Shack. Highly recommend this book. Only complaint is poor editing. Overuse of the word "and", also some run on sentences. But a great summer read.

I'm about 1/3 into this, and enjoying it. However the author over uses some descriptions. There's too much about their breaths, "slight whistles " and the word "hell". Sex scenes are a bit long and unnecessary, but I suppose that's what people want. The storyline is good so I'll keep reading.
