I think this show had the potential of being a really great show but a lot of things that happened were very questionable. There was a whole of “I don’t understand how this relates to the show” moments. I for once at a time wasn’t sure if I had missed some scenes in between. First let’s talk about the main character Kristen Wiig (one of my fav) and how she rose from grass to glory in a twinkle of an eye. This was someone who had to climb over fences to have a taste of the beach club and suddenly she became the very host of the same beach club in a short period of time. It seemed like a very smooth and fast transition but not so real. Also, the whale part. I was totally confused as to what I was watching. It was like the editor wanted to flex his new skill as a CGI creator cause I was lost in translation to what I was watching. This is no sci-fi show. They could made this a dream really. It takes a ship on an ocean a good amount of time to swerve around in change of direction for a new course but a whale that size on a beach sand turned around so quickly like a police car chasing after a criminal and back into the ocean in a space of seconds. Viola, very magical I would think! Furthermore pls explain to me how someone gets off comma and the first thing she does is to hurry off to a party? I do understand the humor that was intended by this but be this an act from a different character like maybe Max, I’m totally sure the people will get the joke. But Ann has always been a serious character from the beginning, no one expects her to break her character and suddenly start doing unimaginable things like jumping off close encounter beds into a party dress for a party. Lastly and I’ll end with this, watching the president scene was very cringy. There was literally no class to it. In that scene all I could do was picture the president as a fat short man who likes food cause that was the image I saw. Watching the president sit through all the turmoil and breakdown from Max made me crawl further into my blanket. It would have been better if she was giving her speech and the president arrives and then Mary sees that as opportunity to shoot him. Robert tries to stop her from making further fool of herself as the president has just walked in. Max refuses to give up the mic cause she’s broken ant that point and hurries down into the crowd to go meet the president herself while Robert is still trying to persuasively take the mic from her. Mary sees this as a great chance to carry out her plan and does so. The president didn’t need to sit down to watch that whole chaotic drumshow. We must remember he is not exactly there for her but for the astronaut. (also why did an astronaut save Max? A fisher man could have equally done the job. Even the so called whale that came along to thank her could have led her to shore, lol 😂) There’s just so much to point out and if I was among the writing board, there are definitely somethings I would reconsider. Aside the storyline, whoever was in charge of the cast did a magnificent job. The costumes were very elegant and truly represented the period piece. I look forward to the next Season. Hopefully the writers have it more polished this time.
