No spoilers here! Ok, I do think it is better than the original, in terms of stylistic choices, atmosphere, and fight scene choreography. HOWEVER this is not a good movie. There is zero backstory for any of the characters. The most the audience gets is a brief hint at the past. We don’t get enough information about any of the characters to be invested in them. Nothing is explained, there is no character development whatsoever, and no clear story line. The entire time I was watching it, I just had more and more questions that were never answered. They clearly spent their entire budget on wardrobe, special effects, and fight scenes and completely neglected the plot. Really disappointed. If you like action movies without much story, you might enjoy this. It’s worth a watch for the nostalgia factor perhaps. However, any true fans of the original (or the comic books) will not enjoy this movie very much.
