When this movie was first announced I was SO EXCITED. I haven’t seen Hellboy in theaters since Del Toros “The Golden Army”. As a teen I got real into Marvel both comics and Screen. I also got into Dark Horse comics. Obviously Hellboy. So when I heard they were going to come closer to the comic source I was THRILLED. And of course the movie came out and everyone and their mother starting crapping on it. A lot of them simply because it wasn’t Del Toros Hellboy 3 with Perlman. But I went in with an open mind and I was not disappointed. Granted I can see where the gripes come in. The CGI was either real good like the demons attacking the city, or real bad, the Giants battle. And of course the pacing and some dialogue was troubled...but as a faithful Hellboy fan I WANT to see them continue on with sequels. Hire a new writer find a new director. Make it work. Make this a new Universe that old fans can enjoy and bring in a whole new audience. They just need to find the people to make it work. Now I loved Perlman as Hellboy. But I also adore Harbours new take on the character. Not only because he fits the role (He’s tall, built, even his voice) but he’s an actor we KNOW. So I say let the haters hate. But let’s try making this Hellboy Universe happen.
