Yes: —the gore (it’s off the charts) —special effects (so good they are basically imperceptible as fake) —the audacity (this show goes places NO show or movie has dared) NO: —Writing (deliriously bad dialogue) —overkill (how many hallucination scenes do we actually need? How many of the same old arguments between FBI agents) —“comedy relief” (the Abbott and Costello -level forensics guys...are you kidding me with this?) —acting (from Anderson’s ludicrous Veronica Lake impression to least terrifying Hannibal one could imagine...just painful) —art direction (some of the worst set design I have ever laid eyes on...especially Hannibal’s office...the guy is an aesthete and you have him in that cheesy, clashing office?). The rapturous reviews mystify me. I’m guessing it’s gore hounds...as that is the one thing this series gets an A+ on.

probably a bad idea to binge this series ... because it starts to come apart at the seams. it's repetitive and monotonous after a while ... red herrings and dead-end subplots galore ... and the refusal to give these characters any humanity keeps it from being truly great. performances and casting : A+. But this isn't really as wise or clever as it thinks it is.
