This movie could have been better. The themes were missing something to create a proper atmosphere. The monster seemed weak, the obsession was not there. The relationship with victor and monster was not explored in any depth. The love interest was pointless and the old guy monster was friending had 0 emotional weight. The themes in the book were not present in this. Guillermo is obviously a romantic but it got in the way of making a truly great adaptation. The movie looked great overall but missed the mark and essence of what the book is.

Wasn't bad and was much more one sided then other reviews alluded to. For it basically just being ww2 hitlers last days set in modern America the story really wasn't that poorly done and overall a fun watch. There's some obvious flaws that make certain parts pretty unrealistic and I mean it's over a fairly short period of time so if youre expecting huge character development well unfortunately real people don't work that way and I think that's one of the most realistic aspects of the film the cast did a great job playing the part in my opinion
