I realize the whole premise wasn't the mission to Mars but rather the toll it would take on the people involved and those they left behind.
But...they didn't seem to consider the toll it would take on the audience to deal with the horribly cliche personal situations that consumed the bulk of the 10 hour series. Only a few cast standouts in the Atlas crew made it bearable. Said standouts did not include Swank.
Also amusing that they hired a Gary Sinese look-alike for the psuedo-Ken Mattingly role.
On the plus side, the science was semi-solid, the SFX were good, and the cinematography decent.
