This is just another fun watch. Ryan Reynolds’s and Hugh Hackman have amandine chemistry and the humor pokes fun at everyone. No one or even their ideals are safe in this movie. Honestly I view these films as perfect holiday movies. They have just enough drama to keep you invested in the story, action around every corner and humor throughout to keep things light especially after someone dies. And believe me another person is killed every few minutes in this film. 4.5 stars.

Such a fun film! In the vein of the dirty dozen and inglorious basterds, this is probably the least guy Ritchie style film. It’s a straightforward war action epic. The movie never tries to be anything other than entertaining. This is going on my year round rotation for sure. So make some popcorn, grab a drink and turn down the lights for this two hour joy ride.

As far as vampire movies are concerned this one is better than most in recent memory. If you’re having trouble naming one now just as I am then you know I’m right. This movie was not your typical page to screen adaptation. While some directors would shy away from some of the more harsh elements of Kings original novel, this film highlights every tragedy that befalls our characters. This film falls very much into the same vein, no pun intended, as Doctor Sleep. While we don’t get as many big name stars to spend our time with we are treated to some fine performances. A notable standout for our lead child character. The violence and terror of a small town vampire story is all there. Our leading man comes back to his hometown revealing some childhood trauma. A small town girl with big city aspirations. A new kid in town trying to make a name for himself. And a strange foreigner arriving just as the townsfolk start disappearing. While this is not a perfect film by any means this is a perfect Halloween film. Though I would have been disappointed to spend money at the theaters for this one, watching this film from the comfort of my couch while my baby slept was fine by me. And all for the price of a max subscription. Honorable mention goes to making vampires scary once again.

Ricky Gervais does it again with an honest, unflinching look at grief in the face of losing a loved one. Even though our main character Tony, played by Gervais, is constantly angry and sad, the show finds tender moments with its most mundane characters and situations. I’ve watched the show with my wife and we agree we’d both be Tony if we lost one another as well. The supporting staff surround Gervais with humans, not stand-ins with their own problems and emotions. This is just a good and honest show. An original moment of entertainment amongst an armada of prequels, sequels and legacy tv shows that hark on viewers having a previous relationship with its stories and characters. Do yourself a favor and watch this show with your significant other and ask yourselves, “Would I be Tony if I lost you?”

PT Anderson once again shows the audience a moment in time focused on young love. We are transported to the Californian valley in the 70's, as we watch 15 year old, entrepreneur, actor, businessman, Gary, find love with 25 year old, portrait photographer assistant, Alana. The film is shot beautifully and the score makes each scene play like a silent film. Like, There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, and The Master, the main theme on family and love and betrayal are at the heart of this love story.
