Rez Rising

I liked it a lot. Loved the original, but the "homage shots" to Kubrick were unnecessary here. Actually found myself looking away during the most intense part. Very good movie. Good story, generally, with a few questionable character choices, but definately better than normal King adaptions. Rebecca Ferguson does a GREAT job as the bad guy.

Massive disappointment so far. I've been waiting 3 decades to see these kids kick ass on any screen. Original stories were cool, and fun. This is painfully slow. Pacing is just terrible. Episode 3 and I'm still waiting to see Cloak and Dagger. I understand they need to set up the characters, but there's so little payoff so far. Know your audience (the old fans are tuning in, not kids) and give them a dark story of two runaways kidnapped by the mob and turned into "monsters". A Spider Man or Daredevil cameo wouldnt hurt either (I know, dream on)... Good story telling is punchy and electrified. This is cold molasses. Hint: The original origin story was great. Not seeing why they changed it. BETTER, TIGHTER writing would help this meandering mess. Considerations: New Orleans is cheaper to shoot in than NYC. The writers need themes with legs. That's about it, and it's not enough to excuse snail pace storytelling.
