As someone who really liked The Last Jedi, I was very open for where the new one might go, but...
Will reserve final judgement until have seen more times. But a real running out of time, we'll just have to go with what we have feeling about the film. As if they didnt quite know how to edit for pacing or how to create interplay between visuals and music. And there were arse awful moments of supposed importance or emotion rushed through at high speed. All incident and action and very little time for the characters to spend feeling emotion, so therefore little of that to engage with. I sort of hope the initial rumours of a 3hr cut are for real, that what was cut is character interplay, they release it and it improves the film as much as the extended version of Fellowship of the Ring did for me.
First response...hmmm.
Various 'reviewer style' sum ups:
...Feel like TROS was happier to empty endless buckets of STAR WARS over my head than to ever pour me a glass of Star Wars and let me drink it. So I left as thirsty as I went in.
...Having seen the film, I don't fully feel like I have seen a film, I feel like I have had a film described to me, so I know the basics of what happens but have no relationship with the emotions I would expect a film with these events to evoke...
...It is the bad sex party of the Star Wars Saga. Everybody got to where they needed to go but there was no real foreplay or anticipatory tension, nobody brought any surprising skill or changes of pace or intensity to the proceedings it was just a mad rush to get it over with and be done with it.
I hope these feelings change upon the future viewings I will definitely partake of.
