As a person who grew up with the Sonic franchise since the late 90s, I found this series to be quite endearing, in all actuality. What stuck out to me the most was how they managed to take a seemingly one-noted, goofball character, i.e. Wade, and use this show as a way to flesh him out. When you actually take the time to look at the big picture, you find yourself rooting for both Wade and Knuckles in the long run. They're both on a journey to find themselves in settings far beyond their comfort zones and I feel like the writers knew what they were doing when they came up with this particular dynamic.
This show, in my honest opinion, strikes a nice balance between comedy, heart and action within its short amount of episodes, with both of the characters having their time to shine in each one. Plus, it was both funny and heartwarming watching Knuckles learn about various things on Earth that seem strange to him at first, only to gradually warm up to later. And in turn, watching Wade's once-estranged family come together for a common goal is also endearing. I've been in a similar position as Wade, so that part of the story resonated with me loud and clear.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who's a Sonic fan, as well as looking for something good to watch on TV nowadays.
