I enjoyed this novel. However, I do not like references made to people or events that are dated.....I found Summer Island to be full of these. References to people who are popular in the 1970's may not be known by another generation, hence, void of mental contact. The Four Winds was very enjoyable. Currently reading The Things We Do For Love....page 83...."her skin was Nicole Kidman pale." A teacher friend asked me who is Nicole Kidman? Case in point. The Nightingale was not like this. Very good reading and lending itself to hours of book club discussions....
