I hate to say it but, I am honestly a little disappointed. I play alone so I have no complaints on the one island per switch issue. I was really excited but on the first day it seemed like there was not much to do. I used to play AC on the GameCube for hours and I couldn’t even explore the entire island on the first day in the New Horizons version. Also, what happened to villagers tasks? I used to enjoy running errands for villagers in exchange for goodies. On the first day I racked up over 50k in bells, I donated as many creatures to Tom as I could, I upgraded my tent, crafted a good amount of items, earned over 10k in nook miles, and I was still done pretty fast. The game is real time so you cant progress any further really until the next day... I don’t want to play for just 20 minutes to an hour a day... and if you play more than that it’s very repetitive because you’re limited on what you can do.
**Update**
I will say that it only took a few days time to finally get to the rest of the island and it was pretty fun for a while. However, even though it’s somewhat nostalgic it feels very different. Once April came it was considered *bunny time* which is like the AC version of Easter. Practically all you are able to fish for is Easter eggs that are “hidden” all over the island. This got annoying very fast. It just put a bad taste in my mouth and I’m not sure what I was expecting from this release but I will say that I was rrrreally excited and for me, it’s fallen short.
