After finishing all 6 episodes, the best description I can give for the quality of this show is... "a throw away spin-off that makes use of the all the sonic movie hype to squeeze out as much profit as possible, without any of what people loved about the films, and with as little respect for the source material or the audience". Other than the very first episode, the show is about Wade and the human characters. I did like the first episode, where they do show off some of Knuckles abilities and his personality with a cool opening sequence and interactions between him, sonic, tails, in green hills. The first episode sets up the plot to be a generic sitcom where Knuckles is supposed to live daily life with the wachowski family. But that ends after the first episode, the remainder of the show is pretty mid if not embarrassing. The audience (all ages) deserves better content. The story is poorly written and the acting is mediocre at best. With interactions that feel uncanny at best(forced dialogue and scenes where it feels like the characters are talking at you) and inappropriate at worst (ie. h010cau2t jokes), it is not a show I would feel comfortable letting my kids watch. Music score is generic, using licensed non-sonic music which takes you out of watching the show to make you think "wow this is super cringe, why did they choose this song, seems super random" or "oh! they chose this song bc it has the word 'Warrior' in the lyrics!" tee hee so silly. In general, if you don't put effort into something, people will notice. As did many people with how much of Knuckles is actually seen in the show. Sadly, the content of the show does very little to help you appreciate who Knuckles is. Whether it be through satirically cheap musical numbers that make a joke of Knuckles' past or episodes entirely dedicated to the human cast of characters that are of little to no interest to sonic movie fans, you will walk away being unable to remember much of Knuckles or the plot. For those who have not been following the main-line sonic lore, Knuckles is the last of the echidna tribe and guardian of the master emerald. He has spent his entire life alone on a floating island and has little to no social skills, he is strong, determined, stoic and kind-hearted willing to believe in the best of others sometimes to his detriment; this however does not mean he is an idiot. (could describe more but honestly any quick internet search for who Knuckles is will do a good job of this.) This show should not have been made. If anything it is actively destroying all interest and momentum for the sonic franchise the first two films created. I personally don't want to see this kind of show made for anything sonic again and won't be supporting it. But please, dont take my word for it, go watch this show and form your own opinion. Afterwards, sit down think about what you just consumed and VOICE what you LIKED and DISLIKED so that there is evidence for its quality. Maybe then we will see improvement. Or just dont give the show any attention. that works too. Tl;dr - feels like the uncanny pre-sonic movie 1 sonic model design drama all over again. the show runners need to get their act together.
