I read the book series and I watched this realizing that a lot of content is lost translating a single book into a movie, let alone a series of this size. So I had to separate myself from that. The movie keeps only the basic plot of the book and changes the characters, speeding from beginning to end. As a movie, the idea of the Dark Tower series gave me the meat to make the film pretty good. The acting was great, and the action and sfx were above par. I was curious about the ending. For those who have read the series, the ending was paradoxical, and I hated it at first, but, with reflection, saw that it was the only way that it could conclude. The movie strayed far from that and turned to a more classic, positive future outlook type of ending. I think that would have been a difficult feeling to recreate given the limitations, but it did work for the film. As a movie, I give it 4/5. As an adaptation of a book, far less, but I don't think that was ever, or could be, the point of its creation.
