I just finished watching the film Hajjan.
Despite the stunning filming locationsโespecially in the Hisma Mountains in the Tabuk region, which gave the film a distinctive visual characterโthere are several observations that could have been avoided in any future production:
1. Dialect: Most of the actors used dialects that have no relation to the Bedouin dialect in Saudi Arabia, making the performance feel off and inconsistent with the filmโs setting.
2. Clothing and Hairstyles: The costumes and hairstyles did not reflect the culture or reality of Saudi Bedouins at all. In fact, they were sometimes jarring due to an unjustified mix of styles from Jordanian, Moroccan, Emirati, and Egyptian Bedouins.
3. Film Title โ โHajjanโ: This term is rarely used among Saudi Bedouins and would be more fitting for an Egyptian film than a Saudi one. The choice of title failed to convey a local identity.
4. Overall Rating: From my perspective, the film doesnโt score more than 3 out of 10, and I do not recommend watching it.
