I'm not Mexican but I am Latino (El Salvador) I am sorry México! If the movie is stereotyped, miss representation, not handling the social problem properly....
But I liked!!! I see it as fiction from a theater! I saw it more like an art expression than a movie closed to facts and reality. The main plot is not about the cartels it's about the characters present moments and how they deal with it. My review might sound shallow but that's how I saw it, as "it is what it is from the director" it was Emilia's story!
I loved the characters, people complain "they are not morally good or correct" the reality of Latin America is that you are surviving, you do anything to survive your circumstances...that's exactly what the characters are doing! They are just trying their best in their shoes. It's their story!
I loved Selena Gomez as Jesse, Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldaña!!! I loved the movie! Not best musical but I loved the characters and main plot
