The people giving this movie 1 star all clearly have the same belief that this movie is a remake of the original film, when it is very much not. Mean Girls 2024 is a film adaptation of the Broadway adaptation of the original film. And as someone who enjoyed the Broadway show, this film is really well done. The performances are incredible, the jokes are hit and miss (a lot more hits than misses, however.) Renée Rapp absolutely steals the show as Regina George just like she did during her run on Broadway. The film doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is a massive problem with most movie musicals. It’s perfectly campy and comedic. A solid adaptation of a solid musical.
