Sheikh Majid – Google

Outstanding! One of the best thrillers ever made. Morgan Freeman deserved an Oscar for this (though he got one few years later for Million Dollar Baby). Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow are strong in supporting roles (yes, William Somerset is the obvious lead in this movie). The rest of the cast are adequate including an individual who was considered one of the best at that time (alas, after what we learned about him I don't wish to mention his name). David Fincher's best film according to me. Special mention for the editing (Richard Francis-Bruce) and cinematography (Darius Khondji).

This is one of the worst film I've ever seen. 22se Shrabon is a classic but this so called sequel is an absolute insult to the first film. Not only that, it's an insult to all the characters in both the films. It was just a bland thriller until the final 'twist' which degrades the sequel to a farce. After you watch 22se Shrabon again none of the 'twist' in this sequel makes any sense whatsoever. Anirban Bhattacharya tries to do all he can with his character and he clearly is the best thing in Dwitiya Purush. Raima Sen has nothing to do except cry and mop and cry again. Parambrata is infuriating at times but excellent in some scenes. It'd have been a passable movie without the ending. This movie made me mad. You're always expecting 'Paltan' to eventually show up. The 'twist' would work, let 'Khokha' remain who is; just turn 'Paltan' instead. Special mention for Rwitibroto and Soham, they are wonderful in this ridiculous film. Hope to see them in better ones.

Abir Chatterjee is excellent as the old Byomkesh, weary and tired of the world. That's about the only positive thing regarding this movie. A novel concept doesn't always work. Sujoy Prosad and Bidipta are just aweful in this movie. I'm not blaming the actors, the fault lies with the filmmaker. Joy Sengupta tries hard but the character is written poorly. Oh, and what exactly is the point of having Rupankar's character in the film? If this is the farewell to our beloved detective then please someone adapt 'Bishupal Badh' into a movie and let there be a proper goodbye to the man.
