An excellent quick read about a decective in the 1940's trying to get a rich client's daughter out of a cult like situation. It's film noir and has murder, sex and a conspiracy all wrapped up in one story.

I liked that Claire was not a retired navy seal or special forces soldier. So many books I've read have either wimps for female heroines or super leathal ex military characters
