Feel-wise, it’s the wonder of Jurassic Park meets the adventure of Avatar or maybe Star Wars. It’s really imaginative and creative with its world and the animation as well.
The pacing is fantastic—there was never a dull moment—and it knows when it’s action time and when it needs to slow down for its quieter moments.
The characters are great and all enjoyable—even the minor ones. It’s hard not to like them and get attached, especially to the main cast. I especially thought i might get annoyed by the teenager character, Ethan, because, you know, teenagers, but I think the movie handled him pretty well and realistically without going overboard. Ethan was even one of my favorite characters, him and his father, Searcher.
Strange World is a pretty emotional and heartfelt movie as well, with themes of family and making your own legacy interweaved throughout the film. The father-son relationship between Searcher and Ethan is especially compelling, thoughtful, and poignant.
It also has an environmentalism message that’s actually really well done and integrated nicely with the rest of the movie’s themes. It definitely makes you see the world in a different way, or at least encourages you to look at things like your environment and nature from a different perspective.
It’s a movie kids and adults alike will love if you give it a chance! I myself was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed the film throughout and how it subverted my expectations in several ways. Cannot recommend enough!
5/5 a hundred percent!
