A more light-hearted sci-fi flick.
Starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Vers/Captain Marvel, the movie tells a story about the discovery of ones self as well as ones connections beyond.
It's also an MCU origin story weaved into an alien war as well as the inspiration behind why Nick Fury came up with the Avengers and then some.
Captain Marvel does a lot and says a lot about it's character well as her place in the universe, not your typical Comic-Book movie and for that alone, the movie gets a big thumbs up in my books.
The actors and performers play their roles quite well, Brie Larson owns the Captain Marvel role. I'm so glad they didn't turn her into a Marvel Wonder Woman or a female Iron-Man, instead she's a level-headed protagonist with great self-esteem and a great individual to boot.
The self-confidence and strong-willed charm is played well by Larson, not too over the top nor too dilute, a good display of character in what's easily of one the better roles in the MCU.
Having said all of that, the main downside of all of this is down to the MCU and how they handle Captain Marvel going forward because she's not your typical CBM character so I'd imagine the folks in charge struggling to sell Captain Marvel's character to mass audiences but there's big potential for the younger audience.
Captain Marvel's light-hearted tone differs from most blockbusters so the folks in charge of the MCU should take a more measured approach with this character going forward.
With that being said, definitely one of the best form the MCU.
