Ok, so a few things here,
Theyโve changed the Grand Prix so you now need to drive to the other tracks instead of getting put straight into the next course. That would be fine but the roads are too big and have nothing to do and are mostly just straight lines.
The new courses all feel like Mario kart tour courses and are so generic and all seem too similar and they donโt stand out on there own.
Thereโs also the fact that the amount of courses have been cut down having less tracks then previous entries. The retro courses that they brought back donโt look anything like the original courses they were based off of and are also too wide with nothing happening.
Kart customisation was also removed meaning less creativity with your kart and you now have a bunch of very underwhelming choices to choose from.
Theyโve also changed the way the karts control with drifting being changed completely and the driving suffers from it. In Mario kart 8 deluxe you were in control with drifting but here whenever there is a tight turn you just smack into the wall because the kart loses all control.
The open world is very dull with very few things to do in terms of variety and choices. Giving the fact that the entire game is based around this concept, the rest of the game suffers trying to make the open world seem fun and interesting leading to mess of ideas that werenโt implemented very well. If the open world was good then the rest of the game could be forgivable but itโs not which makes it all the more worse.
This game visually looks good but with game generations lasting longer and prices rising for games this is setting a scary trend for the future of games being just giving people the bare minimum and thatโs it with no love put into it.
I really regret buying this game and would tell everyone not to get this. If you have Mario kart 8 deluxe just stick with that because itโs more fun, polished and has the love and care put into it.
This game is a scam and I unfortunately fell victim to it.
