The format of this book is literally like pawing through a file containing letters, reports, emails, texts etc. I lost the will to go through it. I'm sure there's a good story to be read but I gave up. This current trend for leading us through a pile of stuff similar to what you have to deal with at work is utterly off putting. Escapism it is not. I have a good friend who is registered blind and wonder how this would translate to an audio book. I get the feeling that it would be very hard to make sense of. Please editors take note, this trend may be very "clever" and appear to be on trend for the media generation but it's not a comfortable format. I am so glad I borrowed it from the library and did not buy it.

With stunning scenery, a stellar array of great actors and a beautifully crafted murder mystery to work with you'd be forgiven for having high expectations. How sad the end result. Agatha Christie's Poirot is unrecognisable as is the plot. Characters have been needlessly swapped out. What is included is a grubby and sleazy dance scene in a night club which is so completely wrong for the era and has about as much eroticism as a floor mop. It cheapened and debased the dark elemental passion that drives the entire plot. So if you like seeing a murder mystery set in Egypt with a lot of stars doing their best with a cut and paste job of what was a truly excellent book then go for it. But if you are a true fan of classic Agatha Christie then avoid it. Such a wasted opportunity. Shame.
