I had commented a few weeks ago that the show had seemed to lose it's past greatness. I don't know if it is their writers or simply Covid finally catching up but as contrasted to his past, i find the monologues uninteresting and mostly not funny. Quarantinewhile is terrible. His audience is mostly Evie and she laughs at everything. Stephen is a frustrated actor and most often reverts unsuccessfully to what he considers his acting skills. What a shame because my wife and I were loyal viewers from his early shows as well as this one over the past 5 years or so. He is still a fine human being and we totally support his political views and his values as an American. We just don't find his show entertaining anymore. He lost it somehow.
So, what do we do now? We watch Jimmy Kimmel and DVR Colbert. If Stephen has someone of interest on the show, we may watch the recording and fast forward over everything else. We don't particularly care for Kimmel's street interviews but his monologue is way far ahead of Colbert's in humor, delivery and interest.
Sorry Stephen, but you are now our second choice in that time slot. Maybe, if you go back to a studio audience, we might give you another shot. It's worth a try.
