I rarely go to movies (last in 2023) but I loved 28 Days & asked my Dad to accompany me to 28 Years Later. For reference, he goes to the theater twice a week often watching movies multiple times. This is not his genre but he obviously is a film buff and his take was this is OK. I wanted to give it higher rating but it deserves like 3.5 stars. So...beginning is immediately engaging but typical. Once it goes into life 28 years later, the life despite dystopian environment has you rooting for young Spike to survive and hope even thrive. I enjoyed seeing the world through his eyes...aged 12. Old enough to understand there was a time when life was different but no memories or context before the Rage virus. Descriptions are trying to spin that mutations are now affecting not only the infected but also other survivors. Not really how it goes. There were some beautiful cinematic moments, interesting characters, several gory and tense scenes and then..the ending was straight up tacked on, chaotic and switched to an ultraviolent Guy Ritchie-esque scene with characters alluded to early on and hinted throughout but the disconnect was palpable. It is OK.
