The book feels more like an opinion piece than a genuine biography of Xi Jinping. Much of the first half and middle part consists of the author's political views rather than a clear exploration of Xi's life and accomplishments before becoming President. It comes across as though the author was more focused on echoing common Western narratives about China, rather than offering an impartial look at the man himself.
