I hardly ever leave reviews for anything, so needless to say, my review is not going to be as intricate and well written as others. I’m a huge fan of WWII and every aspect of it. It’s something that sparked an interest in me when I was 13. Watching this through the life of Oppenheimer was really interesting and as was how the bombing itself affected him mentally afterwards. I felt it wasn’t deserving of 5 stars however. The film had a lot of historical background and figures that played a massive role in the creation of the bomb but, it had a heavy mix of slow and fast discussion scenes. Either you began to feel bored and think get to the point already, or can you slow down I can’t keep up with the all the names and quick discussions. I feel that those who gave this film a 1 star were expecting more action and violence, possibly a visual of the horrific aftermath of the bombing. Yet, this was very much like a documentary rather than an action film which tends to show the realism of events. Additionally, I feel that the sex scenes were a bit comical and poorly done, definitely could have been left out. Overall, this film was very interesting and definitely makes me want to dig deeper into learning about the making of the bomb and everyone who played a part.
