I had my doubts, but this movie proved them all wrong. Seriously, I am blown away. Halle was the perfect choice for Ariel. I cried every time she sang. Her voice was absolutely incredible and she embodied Ariel’s gentle nature so, so well. I also love the personality they gave Eric, how he was just a man who wanted to see what was beyond his home, but was held back by a protective parent, which was something he and Ariel had in common. The fact that he collected treasures like she did was such a great touch they added. Also the constellations! How Ariel used them to tell him her name was genius. To put it simply, this live action adaptation was outstanding.

I normally don’t give reviews on movies, but this movie deserves one. I went in with low expectations because of the reviews I had read, and now that I’ve watched it, I honestly don’t understand why anyone would give it less than five stars. It was definitely violent. That’s for sure, but the fight scenes weren’t boring. They were the best part! This movie had my whole theater laughing and cringing. I loved how they even gave Santa a backstory! An awesome one too! It was a whole experience that I can’t stop talking about. It was honestly perfection and I WILL be taking my best friend to go see it a second time. David Harbor couldn’t have played a better violent Santa.
