This movie was an utter disappointment and a betrayal of the Superman character. The script was terrible, constantly undercutting serious moments with immature jokes. David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult have potential, but the writing failed them completely.
Instead of a gold-standard hero, Superman came across as a weak and silly dork. Important characters like Lois Lane were given a weak script, while Lex Luthor's motivations felt unconvincing and driven by simple envy rather than a complex ideology. The story failed to earn its emotional moments, making the final acts feel unimpactful.
The special effects were often embarrassingly bad, and the constant "mansplaining" dialogue felt patronizing and unnecessary, as if the audience couldn't understand what was happening on screen. It feels like a shallow cartoon for adults, not a serious or hopeful film about the Man of Steel. This is one to skipโany previous Superman film, even the less-celebrated ones, is a better watch.
