One of the worst books I've ever read. It's confusing, boring, and I had zero connection to any of the characters. In addition, the main character is clearly a pedophile, no surprise there, but the author doesn't even attempt to give him any redeeming qualities to strengthen the reader's interest in the plot. However, he also doesn't make him so loathe-some that you can at least "love to hate him." Lolita is so unlikable you aren't even truly rooting for her either.
So much of the book describes the "Journey" they went on across America, which is clearly just an attempt at not getting caught, but it came to a point where I would literally skip those paragraphs because it was always the same main idea, "We went to this breath-taking place and 'Lo' hated it." Seriously, every time. The plot also jumps around to the point I was questioning if my copy was missing pages. Not to mention the random French, which I thought would happen here and there at first, but it happens frequently and will be several sentences. Unfortunately, I didn't care enough to translate it.
While the original theme drew me in, I was left feeling like I wasted time on a trashy book.
