I seldom review anything on Rotten Tomatoes. I am generally content to listen to the advice others on this site. However, this film has been done a grave injustice. Pretentious? Boring? Were we watching the same film?? Each section of this anthology resonated with me in a different way, pushing me to violate the “No crying” rule it imposes on its characters and its viewers. It comments on the nature of human greed, the fleeting nature of youth, and grief in meticulously-established and captivating cinematography that rival all of Anderson’s previous work. Some have called this film “The most Anderson Wes Anderson movie,” and they aren’t wrong. But this is Anderson’s greatest gift to the world. Meant for ALL. not just long time connoisseurs.
