A very interesting book about how a very dysfunctional but highly intelligent family dealt with their various idiosyncrasies, each in their own way, and made the best of themselves in spite of not knowing why they were the way they were and why they encountered the difficulties they did in life. Such a good read! And don’t forget to read John’s brother’s book also, Running with Scissors, by Augustine Burroughs (his hated his parents so much that he changed his name in an effort to distance himself from them as much as possible), which is his account of how he coped with an extremely difficult and neglectful childhood, coming through it all on his own power. Both brothers have a wicked sense of humor, which makes everything they went through an enjoyable read in spite of its horror. <3
