At first it is a bit like a tutorial but after a while you get into main game by rank x and you can explore its a very fun game if you want to play a game where you get to explore only battle and go around catching pokemon battles only appear at night until you get side missions i 100% recommend getting cause of how fun it is. You will have a good time and you will want to play it a lot. but it might not be fun for other people because it takes a while to get to main game exploring but if you're willing to wait a bit you will enjoy it.
