Having lived in Pakistan for a decade as a foreigner in the rural area, I understand it takes real effort to relate to people from different cultures. Actually racism can be found everywhere. The movie didn't sit well with me looking through a 2025 lens. The 1914 incident certainly was a huge violation of human rights and criminal. I'm thinking the movie may well have left some animosity towards white Canadians. The excess violence was a distraction from the real lessons that we all need to learn. We don't just want to reopen past wounds when there are many who've attempted to address the injustices and recism over the years.
