I don't care for versions of classic characters that give them modern sensibilities. Anyone who has read Agatha Christie's actual work would know that the person Malkovich plays bears little resemblance to the actual character of Poirot. The only reason Agatha Christie and Poirot has been tacked on this is to sell it and make money for her heirs. Not saying the story isn't worth telling--but if they wanted to make this--then create characters that fit the story. Don't completely reinvent Christie's characters to fit the way they wanted to tell the story. I read somewhere that Sarah Phelps believes this is the story Agatha Christie really wanted to tell. No, actually, the story Agatha Christie wanted to tell is what she wrote. This is the story Sarah Phelps wanted to tell using someone else's characters.
