An excellent series — and well done for finally explaining what really went on. Why weren’t we taught this at school? Beyond the disgraceful mass killings, exploitation, and theft of resources, colonialism ultimately served only to enrich the ruling classes. One only has to look at the appalling poverty in Britain during Queen Victoria’s reign to see this clearly. History, it seems, hasn’t changed much. Reducing migration will not put more money into the pockets of ordinary people. It won’t create more affordable homes, and it certainly won’t stop those in power from cutting benefits or forcing people to work longer and longer for less. Figures such as Nigel Farage enrich themselves while claiming to speak for “the people.” Do you really believe he cares about your struggles? Individuals like him will use any means necessary to maintain power — and the oldest trick in the book is still divide and rule. “Blame the immigrants!” It’s pathetic. People need to wake up, to see and understand what is truly happening. But alas, many will continue to curtsy and doff their caps — just as those in power have always intended.
