Renee Russell

I really like this author and enjoyed the first quarter of the book and was excited to explore this new magical world but then became deeply bored and disappointed in the self indulgent “ownership” trope of adolescent pairings and desires. There were so many wonderful characters (witches, too!) to work with here beyond Ox and Joe but almost none of them got good page time to develop a character arc. The story some serious editing, bigger world building and please less creepy unhealthy Twilight melodrama.
