Bulbbul is a gothic retelling of Nastoneer!😜 But jokes apart the cinematography with lurid reds liberally splashed all over the frame,the subtle background score,some very,very powerful performances from Tripti Dimri,Rahul Bose (understated,controlled and chilling),Paoli Dam and Prambrata Chatterjee will GET YOU. As will the searing pain breaking out in one long agonized scream from the stifled feminine voice thats beaten,mutiliated,raped and gagged in colonial Bengal.It rends the fabric of a feudal,patriarchal society apart with a raging violence that consumes everything!Bulbul is no fare for the ones who like their movies pleasant,but it will shock you and leave you struck with its uncanny beauty! And oh yes,witches are not born they are made by society! And kudos to Anushka Sharma for choosing unconventional themes and giving fresh talent a platform.Definitely a⭐⭐⭐⭐

Trash the Purists and their negative reviews aside,go watch it on "Raam ke naam"🙏🙏🙌 for the enthralling hold this epic tale has on our imagination and hearts for the last five thousand years. An epic is open to many interpretations and the director has shared his own vision with us,and for whatever it is or it isn't,it does not fail to entertain us fully. No point comparing it to Ramanand Sagar's classic tale.The two visions and mediums are different.Artists should have that creative liberty in a Democracy.Theres one commonality: both bow their head in respect to Shri Ram and all the values that Ramayan encompass, bedrock of what we identify as quintessentially Indian.The credit here goes as much to the power of this epic tale as to the director. There are many jaw dropping,larger than life moments...beautiful locales, superb VFX,eye popping action sequences,great and appropriate music. Lanka is a dark universe of its own and Ravan is it's dark lord.So is the depiction of Kishkindha and the battle between Bali and Sugrib. Jatayu and Ravan's fight is a scene shown with as much bravado as pathos. Ram astride Hanuman with his bow and arrow as he launched on Lanka will make your heart skip a beat or two. And in the superb climax there is an elemental clash of the two forces of light and darkness that will awe you with it's sheer brilliance.Our very own Raam Lalla is a true epic hero,towering and powerful . Ravan's love of Veena and Arts and devotion to Shiv is a side which is not very well known.Its shown here.The essential self destructive nature of his larger than life ego,the restlessness that gnaws within his heart of evil,and his over reaching ambition are all brought to life. The background score is awesome. Only Hanumanjis dialogues with Indrajeet needed to be more dignified. Overall it's a humdingger of an entertainer.You will get your money's worth in every frame.
