Where do I start with this. I really had high hopes for this film, especially being very interested with the Napoleonic Wars. Half the movie was about his wife Josephine. May as well called it Napoleon and Josephine. Joaquin Phoenix basically just played himself didn’t really give a convincing Napoleon. It wasn’t in French, which is fine, but when everyone has the same English accent, it can get confusing as to who’s who in the zoo. It made all the actors seem the same. Considering I know a little bit of Napoleon and the politics surrounding him, there were times where I had to remind myself what was going on. Now for someone who doesn’t know a thing about Napoleon, this would be a very confusing film. Time just seemed to fly by, almost like they did a speed run on his career, and most of the battles and events were inaccurate. Would have been better as a 6 part miniseries or something similar. 4/10 - below average

I mean it’s alright… The atmosphere is quite nice for the time period, the outfits, uniforms, cars etc. unfortunately I found myself checking how much time was left in each episode more than once. I would say unless you have a deep interest in the time period of East Asia just prior to and during the Second World War, it might be a bit of a drag. It does have The Governor from The Walking Dead however, as well as Cowen, leader of the Genii on the series Stargate Atlantis Overall a very okay series.
