I was really excited about this, being a huge fan of Death in Paradise, but the characters begin to really feel one-dimensional. Humphrey is almost a caricature of himself, and only occasionally. Martha is supposed to be running a restaurant, yet you never see her cook or see any front or back of the house people. She and Humphrey are totally on edge, not the chemistry we first saw; the old boyfriend trope was sad.
It's really nothing like the quality of Death in Paradise in either character or plot development. Also, as a fan of mysteries, as well as detective shows, I am disappointed at how many things they bumble procedurally, things that would have solved the crime. In other words, they could do much better. I'm there for the rest of the season, but I'm curious as to whether it will be continued. I hope that it will stop sleepwalking and come alive and bring us a great show.
