I am a huge fan of the early books. This one reminds me of a Steven King or Clive Cussler book - someone realizes that they have a deadline with their publisher, throws together some stock ideas and - voila - a book. This version of Reacher has the cops working with him from the beginning and no worry of consequences for his action.
