I had a few issues with this series that frustrated me. Whatever it was that made ACOTAR so magical and unique, this didn't really have that. I couldn't help but dislike, and/or be thoroughly annoyed with, both Bryce and Hunt at times. There is too much pointless cursing. I can't imagine the Vanir speaking that way. It takes away something important from their characters. Makes them much too human. Too modern. Especially for an ancient people such as the Fae. The world of ACOTAR, at least, didn't have things like cell phones and televisions. And I could even stand the cursing more so in ACOTAR. Though, again, I don't see how speaking that way fits with the overall Fae persona. But this particular series was much more unrealistic and the storyline wasn't as good. Decent, but not as good. I enjoyed the connection to ACOTAR in books 2 and 3, but more could have been done with that. Worst of all, the main characters were often annoying. I liked Ruhn, but got sick of Bryce constantly muttering about "alphaholes" and being so smug. Athalar wasn't much better. I imagine the Fae, as well as angels, as elegant and graceful creatures, everything that our main characters were not. Moreover, the plethora of intimate scenes were often much too crude, taking away from the romance. A little mystery would have been nice, too. I felt like I didn't need to know some of those details.
